Tarzan the Stage Musical Swings into the Pearl Theater

Pearland, TX, Pearland Theatre Guild’s Production of TARZAN® The Stage Musical, Based on the Disney Film will be Southeast Texas’ area premier when it opens August 16, 2013 at the Pearl Theater located at 14803 Park Almeda Dr., Houston TX 77047.

Directed by the talented Nathan C. Hand, who directed the immensely popular 9 to 5 the Musical at the Pearl Theater last season. And with exciting music by pop icon Phil Collins including Grammy and Oscar winning song, “You’ll Be in My Heart” and Musical Direction by Heather Tipsword this production is sure to please audiences of all ages.

Written by Tony Award-winning playwright, David Henry Hwang, based on Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes and the smash-hit 1999 Disney animated film. TARZAN® tells the story of an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa. Taken in and raised by a tribe of gorillas, the young boy strives for acceptance by his ape father while grappling with his uniqueness. When a human expedition enters their territory, Tarzan® – now a man – encounters strangers like himself for the first time.

The cast includes both children and adults and features very talented vocal artists, actors and dancers from Pearland, Houston, Missouri City, Friendswood and other area communities. The Pearland Theatre Guild is very excited to be the first to produce this musical in the area and is looking forward to the challenge!
